The purpose of this post is to start a conversation (that I hope others will contribute to) about the similarities and differences between traditonal engineering faculty and engineering education faculty. Just to make sure that we're speaking the same language, faculty, are a group/body of people - not a single person.
1. Traditional engineering faculty are concerned with sharing content that relates to the nuts-and-bolts of a specific engineering discipline while engineering education faculty are concerned with both how the content is taught AND how it is learned.
2. Traditional engineering faculty typically have backgrounds (at least one advanced degree) in a traditional engineering discipline while the background of engineering education faculty vary from zoology to child pyschology and beyond- and of course, this includes a traditional engineering degree.
Again, these are just two ideas. Feel free to add more to this conversation.
